Patience is a Virtue

But not one of mine.

I was out on a massive shopping spree today but found it quite annoying thanks to the last-minute Christmas crowd. Oh, how I hate you, last-minuters. The malls were swarmed with people making parking a 20 minute chore and the shopping a pain in my rear. Of course, this was nothing like Black Friday...no one got punched or anything...but I do think it could qualify as a minor version.

I would generally classify myself as an overall patient person but I do have my limits as well as exceptions. These exceptions include but aren't limited to: kids, the elderly and disabled. Kids are so incredibly adorable. They're so innocent, pure and have none of the bad qualities that life installs in you as you grow. Their biggest concern is not having a yellow crayon to color the sun....That is as big as issues get for them. How could you not admire, if not envy, that? The elderly are just as innocent but in an entirely different way. They've lived out their lives, have raised their kids, given them the keys to success and have experienced all they could. They are wise in ways that only become more and more clear as we grow and learn from our experiences.  The disabled I accommodate because their life is hard enough. Any disability qualifies, not just being in a wheelchair or not being as mentally capable as others. It includes illnesses whether as trivial as a cold or as serious as cancer. These people are already suffering and probably don't need me adding to the mix. I don't understand people who can't do the same.

Over thanksgiving I met a guy who told me about how he is extremely impatient when getting off planes. He explained that the person sitting next to him had cancer and was taking his 'god-damn cancer time.' I was shocked at his reaction..It wouldn't have killed him to wait three extra minutes.  If you do not fall under any of those categories, I may unleash my wrath on you...irritate me at your own risk.

As we were parking at Balexert, the car ahead of us found a parking spot and was trying to reverse in order to allow the car already parked there to get out. Naturally we would back up as well to give him room but we already had 12 cars behind us so there wasn't the space. But he kept reversing. My sister was driving and had her hand on the horn trying to alert him that he was about to hit our car....did he stop? No. My mother got out and went to talk to him to explain that if he were to reverse any further, we'd crash. Did he stop? No. He blew her off. Did we start swearing at him? Yes.

It all worked out fine but It was bloody annoying. No, we're not willing to risk a fender bender in our beautiful Mini. Tough.

The up-side is that we got a lot of shopping done today...I came out with all kinds of clothes and gifts for everyone. It was amazing.

Best of all? My last-minute chocolate run for the holiday season at Manor downtown:

Isn't that just the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? Speaking of downtown, I was there the other night for my first reunion with Swiss Coco (stole that from Twitter..I'm a little low on creative thought at the moment) and noticed they have also up-ed the decorations en ville! It was exciting...lots of bright lights and a massive Christmas tree off of Rue de Marché:

This was on Rue de Marché, the center of downtown Genf. Do you see that large moving thing with the bright lights? That's a BUS and those tracks on the ground? For the TRAM. I'll be sending this to the B Deets and dropping it by the bus station as an outrageous example of what public transportation can be in those crazy cities where people need to get places.
Moving swiftly on:

It was raining so sorry for the bad iphone quality...but I'm sure you get the general idea. It's beautiful walking downtown at night...driving on the other hand? The Swiss have something I like to call the Christmas-craze. Holidays= panic= crowded parking= shitty drivers= crowded stores= getting on my nerves.

I'm just going to announce that I have a history of smackin' hoes. It's unexpected...like a cobra.

Happy holidays! Bonnes fetes!
