The Daily Struggles of A College Student: Dining halls and Employment

Greetings readers,

It's been a while since I've posted and a lot has been going on but let me start by saying happy thanksgiving a tous! The break was TOO short if you ask me....but anyway, on to me. Cause that's why we're here. To hear all about me :)

...Okay, i've basked in my glory. Let's get to business. During Thanksgiving, I was actually here in Columbia and a good friend, Kendiferous, let me stay at his place since he lives off campus and didn't have the pleasure of getting kicked off campus during breaks. Anyway, living the 'off campus' life was simply heavenly. Breakfast was a simple bowl of cereal, lunch was whatever I felt like and dinner followed suit. I loved it.

The best part was that I never had to deal with food I hated which is what I'm forced to do in the dining halls some days. I try to talk to my parents about it and they simply don't understand why I have come to loathe the dining halls...the explanation is simple: it's like eating fast food every day and some days, it's like having an all-you-can-eat buffet of crap. Enjoy.

I am desperately trying to find an apartment for next year but it's a lot harder than it looks. Either the places are furnished and beautiful but off campus and require a car OR they're unfurnished and in the middle of campus. It's beyond infuriating.

In other news, after going through a bit of a rough financial patch the past few weeks, I am proud to announce that I am now a working girl with a steady monthly income. Isn't that just beautiful? I work for streetrebuttal.com as a video producer which means I get to record people's opinions, upload and get 50 bucks a week. I may be contacting you at some point...look out for that. Additionally, I just sold a textbook on amazon for a pretty good price so in a few weeks, i'll be rich!

Okay, not really, I'll be rich for a formerly-dirt-broke college student. It's funny how that works...for a few weeks I barely had the money for my phone bill and was looking forward to that charming letter from the bank that comes in bright red to remind me of my broke-ness...and then all of a sudden, all problems are solved! Okay, yes, I could have asked my parents..but that was a conversation I think every kid tries to avoid...especially after they burned through 400 dollars in a month. heh. Plus, I feel like I'll be less inclined to spend the money if I'm the one who has spent a shit ton of time earning it.

Maybe. We'll see about that.

Oh, side note, my phone has been having more mood swings than my roommate....which means if I owe you a call, it'll come soon to a phone near you!

A la prochaine!
